Academic Profile
Ellesmere College is a school that values individuals. Ellesmere's aspirations for pupils have always been higher than simply passing examinations. However vital exam success is, and 85% of our students gained entrance to their first choice University, it is not enough on its own to prepare young people to be successful adults. An Ellesmere education is a preparation for living adult life successfully, considerately and with a sense of personal fulfilment.

Another excellent year for the school was demonstrated with outstanding performances from Sixth Form students in both International Baccalaureate and A Level. In the most recent results more than 50 per cent of all A-Level grades awarded to Ellesmere students were in the top A* - B grade with 25 per cent at the top grade A*. The A level results followed impressive International Baccalaureate achievements where over 50 per cent achieved the higher level at above 30 points, which is equivalent of 3 A* grades at A Level. The average overall score for the International Baccalaureate candidates equated to three A grades at A Level, with one student achieving a top score of 45 points, which is an equivalent of 5 A* grades at A Level. Successful students have been accepted on a wide range of courses at Universities which include Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, Kings College London, New York School of Visual Arts, Edinburgh and the Chicago Art Institute. GCSE grades were equally impressive with a bumper crop of A* grades and departments recording 100% pass rate.
