Academic Profile
Academic results are strong both in arts and sciences and the expectation is that nearly all pupils will progress on to top universities in the UK, including many to Oxbridge. In 2015 more than  49.2% of A level exams entries were again graded at A*A and 37.3% of exam entries at GCSE were at A*; 70.9% A*A. The most gifted pupils are provided extension work by academic mentors and all pupils are able to benefit from the academic enrichment programme available through departmental clubs and societies. An impressive new Science centre opened in September 2014, which houses seventeen laboratories , an additional lecture theatre and buttery.

All-round Education
Complementing the School’s academic life is a very full and high quality timetable of co-curricular opportunities. Music is exceptionally strong at Uppingham, with unrivalled state-of-the art facilities and a large department of over fifty staff. Art, drama and design and technology are also very strong and housed in recently refurbished high quality departments that are open for use by all. In September 2010 the School opened a multi-million pound Sports Centre, highlighting a commitment to providing the best for our pupils.

The 796 pupils in the school live in 15 boarding houses where pupils work, sleep and eat their meals. The pastoral care in these smaller houses (none with more than 61 pupils) is second to none and the pupils themselves are involved, confident and outgoing. Whilst pupils live in dormitories aged 13 and 14, all pupils have single bedsits for their final three years.
