Visitors to Packwood invariably comment on how happy the children are and how enthusiastically they throw themselves into school life. Outside the classroom they enjoy a huge range of extra-curricular activities and are encouraged to make use of the outstanding facilities and extensive grounds including the Sports Hall, Theatre, Art and CDT rooms, cookery rooms, swimming pool and golf course. There are frequent trips and outings as well as events in school.

Our ethos is to provide the children with a positive and supportive environment in which they can thrive and flourish educationally and socially. We encourage them to be co-operative, helpful members of the school community and are always delighted by comments from others who come into contact with them such as “the door was opened for me by the politest boy in the world” and “your pupils have been so polite and well-behaved – they are a credit to you.”

Nowhere is this spirit more important than in the busy boarding houses – boys are accommodated in the main school building and girls in a purpose built house in the school’s magnificent grounds. All enjoy a warm and friendly atmosphere benefiting from first-class pastoral care, support and stability provided by a committed team of house parents, matrons and landing tutors. The quality of boarding provision at Packwood  is highly praised in the Independent Schools Inspectorate report ( October 2015), As well as reporting on the'excellent standard of care' boarders receive, the inspectors also noted that ' A recent Ofsted report commented on how the children benefit immeasurably from living in a school where all members of staff are ‘focused on their success, needs and aspirations’. To quote a final year pupil, “Packwood is perfect, just perfect.”

Boarding is a uniquely rewarding and enriching experience that equips children with great self-confidence, resourcefulness, independence and the invaluable ability to get along with others. Our boarders leave us having made friends for life.

Harry Zhang
I came to Packwood in April 2013.  In the short time I have been here I have made excellent progress in my English and other academic subjects.  I am now preparing to take my entrance examinations to a UK school when I am 13 years of age.  Packwood is a great school.  The children and staff are all very friendly and helpful and I settled into life here very quickly.
